Changes

Postby Mike Wise » Thu Dec 31, 2009 2:37 pm

Ok, so it's the end of the year and time to reflect. I am beginning to notice changes. Yes, I know I am over four years post op and I should have noticed changes sooner. What can I say, I am a little slow. The one change that I am beginning to notice more and more has to do with buying clothes. Well yes I have purchased clothing over the past 4 years. But now I am more aware of the fact that I have been buying them to big. I remember how I use to hate for them to be tight and want to make sure I had room to move. Up untill resently I have been still buying XL. At my largest I wore XXXL. So while I have lost 140#'s I only dropped two sizes in what I was buying. I just bought some new shirts and got them in a L. They fit better and I still have some room. Whats more I don't look like I am wearing my big brothers hand me downs. Maybe I am going to finally realize that I have changed.

I know exactly what you mean. Buying clothes was always a demeaning thing to do when you have only the 3x or larger rack to choose from. I too kept buying clothes that were too big until my husband went with me and commented on it. I tried some smaller sizes, and was surprised to find that I could actually fit into them! From a 26 to a 14....the feeling is unbelievably happy. I'm only 2 years out, and still have more weight to lose, but am determined to do it. And if I don't? Well, I feel so good now and am told I look good, that I won't beat myself up if it doesn't happen. Life is good and I can't imagine what it would have been like the last 2 years had I not done this. I have to stop beating myself up for not doing something sooner, it's wasting time, and I'm enjoying life too much now to do that anymore.
